Sat here in the hairdresser finally getting my roots sorted out. It's about time too. A Korean kid recently asked me why my hair was yellow and black. Eurgh, sometimes children can be way too honest!
So here I am, waiting for my highlights to be done! The whole process from start to finish takes them about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Are all hairdressers that slow? I forget because I've been coming to this one for so long it seems normal.
The worst thing is I actually have a minor phobia about getting my hair done. So the long drawn out process does not help my anxiety. But...I'm a bit of a slave to beauty so clearly can't just leave my hair it's natural colour!
I think the problem stems from a super dodgy style I got in my awkward teenage years. My mum had seen a celebrity do a TV interview the night before I went to the hairdresser and said her hair would suit me perfectly. I trust my mum's opinion and taste so I let her explain to the hairdresser. He said he'd seen the celebrity and the hair style she was on about. Well, lets just say I highly doubt that! I ended up with a very unflattering ear length bob. Definitely not maintainable by a fourteen year old and not suitable for my very podgy face at the time!
End result: I looked like a boy with grown out curtains! Spent the next few months wearing hairbands and pretty hair clips so people knew I wasn't!

ReplyDeleteBarttart, r u scarred for life or did you work through it?
ReplyDeleteSounds funny/upsetting! Haha.
I'm hopeful that I'm slowly recovering from my trauma. :-/
Hair's looking okay right now and they're almost finished. The more times it goes right the closer I get to being phobia free once more!
Jokes aside, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting, hope u do again soon!

Nice pic!!! You are soo beautiful...love all your photos <3
ReplyDelete@AllieUK, yep, if I go to my hairdresser on the weekend it takes them a lot longer. Definitely can't make any other plans that day. As it is, I worked out that if I leave work a little early during the week they get it done in time for their closing time which is 9pm! (crazy work schedules here in Korea)
ReplyDelete@Rakhshanda, Thank you, I thought I looked silly but you've made me feel better about posting it! haha :)

Nice post! I think we all have had a horrible hair cut at one point in time. Mine was when my hair dresser cut my bangs completely the wrong way. It was awful. I had them pinned up everyday for school so no one would notice how bad they were lol.

Haha I can't believe a kid said that to you! Actually, I can... I've had kids say some pretty honest/mean things to me which include "why is your face spotted all weird like that?!" "Freckles, stupid", is what I wanted to say.
ReplyDeleteI also have some anxiety when people work on my hair! It is to funny how honest little kids are!
ReplyDeletelol, yes i also get major anxiety anytime i get anything done to my hair.
ReplyDeletelovely photo
@xOxO S, Thanks, that's really nice of you to say. She's beautiful. I would also love her figure!!
ReplyDelete@Jessica, that sounds bad. It's awful when your hair cut goes wrong because there's nothing you can really do, you just have to wait it out.
@Megan, yep they're pretty honest/mean. I wish I could tell them what I think too but I resist because I'm a nice person! Haha!
@Jamie Leigh and CottonCandyINK, so glad you girls are the same as me. Well, not glad you get anxious but glad other people feel the same because it makes me feel like I'm not stupid for worrying when I'm there!
Thanks everyone for the comments, stop by again soon! :)

ps:my hair turned out great. Phew!
Ooh I'm glad your hair turned out fine. I think most hairdressers take a long time colouring hair, mine took about three hours when I got it done too! I sometimes feel more comforted when it takes them a while though. One time I got my hair cut in a hairdressers i don't usually go to, and they only spent about 15 minutes cutting my hair, and then wanted £30, when I went to my usual hairdressers a few months later they asked if I'd cut my own hair :-/!

Haha I had a bad hair year when I was 15. I guess my hairdresser thought layers meant "mullet." Definitely not cool!

As people have said before, you look great! Far cry from a real ugly duckling...but the idea of your blog is great! Very fun energy! And Don't worry about that little Korean kid... I just had a little boy yell out "you doggie is so fat!", while I was walking down the street..totally uncool amounts of pressure (and its just her fur...well, thats what I tell myself!)
ReplyDeleteI'll check your blog out again, thanks for sharing!
XO, JMoksha
I always feel anxious when I'm getting my hair done! Cute pic, can't wait to see how it turns out :)
ReplyDeleteI usually do my own hair colour (hairdresser studies powa =D) but for the haircut, no one esle than my amazing ex class mate from Hairdressing class is allowed ! And as she lives in my hometown it's quite hard for me to book an appointement =D hehe
ReplyDeleteI think it should take about 2 and half to Three hours ! More than that is a bit long =D
