I'm baaaaack! I have to admit I'm not too happy about that fact, nothing personal to you lovely people, it's just that I had an absolutely incredible time and it's hard coming back to reality, you know?!
Hong Kong didn't just live up to my expectations it completely surpassed them!
We checked into the Hotel Icon, a recently opened, very stylish and vibrant option situated on the Kowloon side facing the famous skyline, we had fantastic views from our room....from breakfast...and from the club lounge (appropriately named Above and Beyond) on the top floor of the hotel. The hotel check-in was seamless, with a smile, AND compliments on my nails. Perhaps great customer service training, or maybe the lady did just really like them, I'd like to believe the later, but the service here really was impeccable!
When we arrived in Hong Kong it was tipping it down, perhaps a problem to some, but we decided we could take full advantage of that fact and use it as an excuse to stay and enjoy the hotel for a while. We lazed in our room, took in the view, a reason in itself to stay here and then headed up to the uber-trendy club lounge for afternoon tea. The hotel offers a delectable assortment of complimentary treats in the afternoon to those staying in club rooms along with cocktail hour(s!!) in the evening - both of these things make it worth the extra if you can afford it.
Once we'd finished our coffee, armed with umbrellas, we headed out for a stroll along the harbour front. The hotel is conveniently located just a short stroll from Avenue of the Stars, the vantage point for that famous HK view and at night, a spectacular light show. Although it was beyond humid, we enjoyed watching the boats pass by and messing about taking photos.

The bath was extra deep and the mirror at the end is actually a TV. I loved the bathroom design with black and chrome, extremely sleek and contemporary. |

Complimentary water and the nails the lady at check-in was sweet enough to notice! |

Afternoon tea. |
Quick change & ready to go! In the hotel foyer my hair looked rather normal... not for long! |
Not quite so sleek now.... But who's looking at that?! Check out the view of Hong Kong! |
Avenue Of Stars is just a few minutes from the Hotel Icon. |

After our walk, thoroughly soaked, we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before cocktail hour. We were so grateful to walk into the comfort of the Hotel Icon! More Hong Kong snaps and hotel pictures coming up in the next post, so stay tuned!

Yeah, it was amazing. I wish I could go back this weekend!
DeleteRevlon minted is such a pretty colour, shame it doesn't apply well though, I really hate polishes that go on streaky etc.

Lovely photos, I would love to visit Hong Kong one day!
ReplyDeleteAwh, great snaps. Hong Kong sounds wonderful, another one for the places to visit list. Did you choose a boat in the harbour? I ALWAYS have to choose a boat in the harbour, the one I would own if I had the means! Hope you don't find post-holiday reality too tough, just look at that ring and think wedding!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, the only boats I really saw in this harbour were massive cruise ships and ferries. Neither are quite the dream yacht I'd like!
DeletePost holiday reality has been made a little easier by the fact I have a three day weekend and a good supply of Cadburys and other british treats now!
