Good Morning Sunshine // Sheraton, Bandung

17 May 2014

Wow! Isn't it amazing how good a few days can be?! We stole some time from an otherwise mundane week and headed to the Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers. Bandung is just a few hours drive away from Jakarta. The Sheraton has recently been renovated in a fresh, clean and modern style. So, that, along with the promise of cooler mountain air convinced us it was a must-do trip.

Living in Jakarta, as with so many capital cities, can lead you to feeling like you just need to getaway for a bit. You need to escape the constant rush, the noise and the smoggy heat. Bandung proved to be such a refreshing interlude in our otherwise quite chaotic life. Waking on the first morning to the sun streaming through the trees onto our balcony that overlooked the quiet valley was nothing short of bliss. The following mornings we made a point to wake early so that we could enjoy coffee in the cool morning air whilst the birds sang in the trees all around us. It was just so peaceful. We had to drag ourselves away from it everyday so we wouldn't miss breakfast.

We opted to stay in a Tower Room (a.k.a. club level room), which was tastefully appointed in creams and white with purple floral accents. The rooms felt bright and airy, they were spacious too, with a circular sofa at the foot of the bed and a separate seating area. The bathroom was appointed in cream marble, with a large white stand alone tub, a huge walk in rain shower and a beautiful Hollywood regency style mirror. I'd seen the hotel prior to the renovations on Kaho's blog, Chuzai Living, and it's clear that the hotel has really overhauled every inch of this property. I think they did a beautiful job in creating somewhere that feels contemporary but also still elegant.

One of our reasons for selecting a club room, along with the added balcony and great view, was the access to the club lounge. Club lounges always offer a nice place to chill-out on any kind of break. The Sheraton Bandung Tower Lounge was particularly nice since it had an outdoor terrace with comfy chairs you could just sink right into. We enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine, and copious amounts of coffee whilst watching squirrels in the trees and a few children flying kites in Dago Valley below. Again, so blissful!

For anyone in Indonesia, or anyone who is planning a trip this way, you can check out the hotels website here, or their Instagram for more photos :)

Hope everyone else had a great week too. Happy weekend!
