Animal-topped mason jars, perfect for jewelry or nail polish storage - via Land of Nams |
I've been meaning to DIY some gold animals for quite some time after spotting them in several stylish settings (see pictures above). They're cute and playful and I thought it'd be fun to dot a couple around my bookshelf and coffee table or maybe even re-create the animal-topped mason jars. After my Kate Spade Canvas DIY I had some gold spray paint left over, so it was just a simple case of finding the plastic animals and getting a bit of free time.
I opted for a bucket of mixed 'safari' animals for mine, but of course, you could choose something different like dinosaurs or farm animals. Or, go for one larger sized animal if you want a bigger visual impact. Once I had the animals I simply laid them out flat on newspaper, sprayed one side of them, waited for them to dry and then did the other. As easy as that! I'm really pleased with how they've turned out and the effect is just what I wanted. I have four of them in my living room and even though I have another 12 sat in their bucket, I think they're best staying there for now. I'm going for playful chic decor after all, not a zoo.

Love these! Any how inexpensive they would be too! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteYes, they didnt cost much to do. If you know somewhere that just sells the animals individually too then it'd be even cheaper :)
DeleteLove this!!!

Yes, they really are. I'm planning to DIY myself some large jars with animals on soon. Got to find a use for the remaining animals :) x
DeleteThis is adorable! At first I was like, where can I buy these! Can't believe you D.I.Y'd them yourself...I will have to give this a go. I agree with the last line of your post, it's good not to over do it or it won't be effective!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this cool idea :)

Aw what a cute idea! I'd never be able to have them around as my cats would eventually get them all under the couch :)
