New beginnings.
I've spent my last day of 2011 painting my nails. As if by a stroke of magic the aptly named nail set 'Get This Party Started' by Deborah Lippmann arrived on my doorstep today, over a week before the estimated delivery date. I chose the colour 'Candy Shop' for tonight, I will post about the whole set in more detail another day.
Of course when I say 'I spent the day' I actually mean a few hours, whilst tooling around in between doing various other things. I've spent a lot of time today thinking about the year that has just passed and the things that have happened. I have been living in Korea for the third year so that's been a big experience. I've learnt a lot more about the cultures there and made many more great friends. I also had my mum visit me which was a highlight of the summer. And now I have the pleasure of being back in England with my friends and family here. There's been two big events that stand out for me though. Steve and I got engaged (still smiling) just a few weeks ago and in August I began this blog.

The five months since I first created this little piece of internet feel like they've flown by but I couldn't be happier with how my blog is growing. I'd like to take this chance to thank you all for your support over the last few months. I am so grateful to all of you who read, comment and follow my blog!

I wish you all the very best for the New Year. I hope that with a new year comes lots of fresh new opportunities and great experiences for you all. Have a fantastic night tonight, celebrate the new beginning in style whatever you do (I know you all will)! Make sure you come back in the New Year because I have lots more to share with you and I aim to make my blog better and better.

Happy New Year Lovlies! xxx

Meet My Korean Friends ^^

10 November 2011

I want you to meet some of my little friends here in Korea. No, I'm not talking about children or unusually small people, I'm talking about my sock friends. Here in Korea almost every pair of socks I see has some kind of super cute cartoon character or funny face on them. I'm actually so used to seeing them that I'd totally forgotten that's not really normal. It was only in conversation with a friend from home that I realized just how lucky I am to have these little guys smiling up at me each day. Yep, that's how we do it in Korea!

If I really think about it there's probably a lot about Korea that isn't 'normal' that I've come to think is. Posing in photos with peace signs and hand hearts is definitely one of those things. See the photo above, that's what I look like in 90% of the photos that get taken of me by friends here. No-one bats an eyelid if you pull a silly pose. You can take and re-take a photo of yourself, by yourself, ten times in the middle of a crowded starbucks pulling a different face (from sultry and pouty to downright silly/cute) for each and people won't even look twice. Okay, that's not entirely true for me; because I'm blonde amongst a sea of black and dark brown hair I draw a couple of looks whatever I do. But, what I'm saying is, here it's cool to pose. Being self-absorbed isn't...well...self absorbed. It's just normal. Cartoon socks for adults aren't silly, they're just normal. Korea is very very cute.

In fact, I should really be doing this kind of thing to all my photos if i want to truly embrace the cliche of Korean cutesy!

Would you like my blog more if I did that to all my pictures?

Silver Metallic Jeans - H&M. Black Hooded Cardigan - Zara.

My froggy friends - Available at all good Korean stores.
I'm not knocking it in any way. I love this stuff about Korea. In all honesty I adore my sock friends, I have lots more. I might have sort of named them too...

I'm not crazy I swear! But now you know my secret. So the next time you see a photo of me and you think my outfit looks chic or glam you'll know what's or should I say who are hiding inside my boots!!

Love me? Love me not? T-shirt - ASOS.

Oh and if you're wondering what the ^^ is in the title - it's big smile eyes!
