Five Things From This Week.

19 November 2011

Once again, we made it to the weekend. Happy Weekend folks! It wasn't such a tough week in the end. Yes, Tuesday sucked (I didn't really talk about it, here) and there was the stress of getting my hair done (that's here) of course but other than that it's all gravy baby. Yep, I did just write that.  So here's five things from my week.

OOTOD (Outfit of the other day) - More metallic jeans.

I'm a little worried I'm starting to become obsessed with the metallic trend. I bought another pair of metallic jeans, super skinny ones this time. You know the kind...where you can't even bend over they're so tight. But they were just so shiny and silver and...shiny!

Silver Metallic Skinny Jeans - H&M. Black & Silver Studded Boots - Zara. Bracelet - Vivienne Westwood. Silver Bangle - Mont Blanc. Heart Necklace - Swarovski. Other Necklaces - F21.

'Eyelash Styling Tool'
Korea has an unbelievable amount of random beauty implements which usually I have no idea what they're even for! This though, I understood and loved. It's a tool to separate your eyelashes if they get clumped together when you put on your mascara. I don't have this problem often thanks to awesome MAC mascara but occasionally a couple will decide they want to hang out. Annoying. Previously I used a small pin to separate them but thankfully now I have a much easier and safer way of doing that. Ingenious invention.

I would like want need this Yves Saint Laurent Leopard Print Belt.
Saw this when thumbing through a Korean glossy. Leopard print YSL belt, love it! Want it. Need it? Probably not but still....it's pretty isn't it!
God damn Auto Captcha.
Dear Auto Captcha,  I. HATE. YOU. That's all. Ax

Does anyone else ever have serious problems trying to read auto captcha? This week I seem to have struggled more than ever before. I cannot tell you how many times I've got it wrong. I mean, what does that even say??

This week's MAC purchases.
I had to visit MAC to pick up a gift for a friend's birthday. And of course once in MAC, some gifts for myself. Those shop assistants see me coming, I'm sure. I needed the mascara. MAC's Zoom Lash mascara is all I ever use, it's awesome. The other two things I got tempted into buying by the pretty but persuasive shop assistant. I usually use Studio Fix Foundation but Pro Longwear turns out to be a pretty good foundation for everyday wear. The last thing is 'Pink Venus' lustre eyeshadow. I may swatch it one day but to be honest it looks awful on me, gives me a puffy eyed look. I don't know why I bought it. I was tricked. Darn her!

That's my week in pictures. I'm thinking about making this a weekly feature if you guys like it, so let me know what you think. Going out for my birthday tonight so I'm going shopping now to try find an outfit now. Wish me luck! Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Sharing Not Stealing In Silver Metallics

15 November 2011

Terrible Tuesday's are really trying to live up to their name. I woke up this morning before my alarm went off, which is unheard of for me. I figured it must have been because I went to bed a tad earlier than usual. I thought about rolling over and waiting for my alarm to go. After a few minutes I decided I could always use a bit of extra time so I didn't have to rush around like a headless chicken getting ready. I picked up my phone to check what time it actually was and see how close it was to the first of my three alarms (I'm very paranoid about sleeping through my alarm) going off. My phone wouldn't switch on though. I'd put it on to charge when I got into bed but instead of charging it had just gone flat dead. Ahhhh sh*t. I checked the time on a clock in my living room, it was 9.09! Nine minutes after I was due at work. Bugger. So began my morning.

You know how it is when your day gets off to a bad start, it tends to determine the mood of the day. It didn't help that there was no time for breakfast or even a coffee before work. I'm one of those irritable when hungry types. I looked like crap too as you can imagine.

I prefer to leave negatives behind though so let's focus on yesterday instead, which was a far better day; when I maintained a nice constant blood sugar level and looked reasonably presentable.

My boyfriend and I are lucky that our apartment is situated right in the heart of one of the best areas of Seoul, Gangnam. There's a lot of great places within walking distance of our apartment including some cute cafe's we like to walk to and get dinner at. After work we took a stroll to one of them and snapped some pics next to a cool building we pass.

Silver Metallic Jeans - H&M. Jersey Blazer - ASOS. Knit Scarf - Accessorize.
Dream Catcher Silver & Black Necklace - H&M. Boots - Dorothy Perkins.

Metallic Silver T-Shirt - Mango.  Lipstick - MAC 'Saint Germain'.
Unenthusiastic model, can you tell?! <3

He was hungry (it's a much more serious problem when his blood sugar levels get low) so he wasn't too impressed about the impromptu photo shoot en-route. I think my photo captures his impatience well, don't you agree? Are all men the same when they're hungry; kind of like it's impossible for them to function correctly until they've eaten something?

He got his dinner in the end though. Don't worry he ate more than that salad, that was for me, it's just that all food in Korea tends to get put in the middle of the table to share. I quite like it that way. It means you can order your feel-good-about-yourself-healthy meal and then eat the yummy-not-so-good-feel-kind-of-guilty food your boyfriend ordered and it's not stealing, it's sharing! Oh...and the calories still belong to him that way too!

(No boyfriend's were harmed or truly, genuinely angered in the making of this post.)

Meet My Korean Friends ^^

10 November 2011

I want you to meet some of my little friends here in Korea. No, I'm not talking about children or unusually small people, I'm talking about my sock friends. Here in Korea almost every pair of socks I see has some kind of super cute cartoon character or funny face on them. I'm actually so used to seeing them that I'd totally forgotten that's not really normal. It was only in conversation with a friend from home that I realized just how lucky I am to have these little guys smiling up at me each day. Yep, that's how we do it in Korea!

If I really think about it there's probably a lot about Korea that isn't 'normal' that I've come to think is. Posing in photos with peace signs and hand hearts is definitely one of those things. See the photo above, that's what I look like in 90% of the photos that get taken of me by friends here. No-one bats an eyelid if you pull a silly pose. You can take and re-take a photo of yourself, by yourself, ten times in the middle of a crowded starbucks pulling a different face (from sultry and pouty to downright silly/cute) for each and people won't even look twice. Okay, that's not entirely true for me; because I'm blonde amongst a sea of black and dark brown hair I draw a couple of looks whatever I do. But, what I'm saying is, here it's cool to pose. Being self-absorbed isn't...well...self absorbed. It's just normal. Cartoon socks for adults aren't silly, they're just normal. Korea is very very cute.

In fact, I should really be doing this kind of thing to all my photos if i want to truly embrace the cliche of Korean cutesy!

Would you like my blog more if I did that to all my pictures?

Silver Metallic Jeans - H&M. Black Hooded Cardigan - Zara.

My froggy friends - Available at all good Korean stores.
I'm not knocking it in any way. I love this stuff about Korea. In all honesty I adore my sock friends, I have lots more. I might have sort of named them too...

I'm not crazy I swear! But now you know my secret. So the next time you see a photo of me and you think my outfit looks chic or glam you'll know what's or should I say who are hiding inside my boots!!

Love me? Love me not? T-shirt - ASOS.

Oh and if you're wondering what the ^^ is in the title - it's big smile eyes!

I Want to Wear: Gold Metallic Effect Skinny Jeans.

24 October 2011

Trend Alert : Metallic Jeans
This is a new kind of post I'm going to be doing - items I spot and want to wear. It's kind of like a trend alert type post too as...lets face it, my taste is just impeccable, awesome, perfect, flawless! Ha. I'm joking obviously! Except in this case these are actually going to be a big trend. Metallic jeans will be a huge fall/winter 2011 trend I reckon. No doubt you've already spotted some metallic jeans in the stores. I saw this pair that I'm dying to go back and buy. Do not know why I didn't just get them there and then.

Gold Metallic Skinny Jeans in H&M.
They were in H&M so they were pretty cheap, which is great for bold trends like this one. It means you don't feel so bad when you can't really wear them (fashionably at least) anymore.

I spotted this pic of Elle Macpherson on Grazia's website wearing silver metallic jeans. I love how she paired her silver metallic jeans with a simple loose sweater.

Although metallic jeans might not be for everyone, if you dare to try then they'll add a fashionable level of bling to an outfit. The easiest way to wear these is to keep the rest of your outfit simple, let the jeans do the talking!

Here's the info of the six pairs shown in the set I made at the top:
Mango skinny jeans
£55 - mango.com

TopShop super skinny jeans
$120 - topshop.com

River Island super skinny jeans
£45 - riverisland.com

Zara short pants
$60 - zara.com

Nicole Miller denim pants
$275 - nicolemiller.com

Zara short pants
$80 - zara.com

So what d'ya reckon? Will you be trying to rock a pair of metallic jeans or is this trend a bit much for you?

Leave a comment to let me know what you think and as always please make sure you follow my blog! :)
