I Wore: Sporty Sundays

16 April 2012

Since we moved to Songdo, a city with a lot of outdoor space and some beautiful parks, located just an hour away from Seoul, I find myself having to dress casually more often than before. Of all the days I have to get dressed for, the ones I struggle with the most are the casual ones. Dressing to go out for a long walk with the possibility of an impromptu bike ride, or (god forbid!) a jog, is more of a challenge to me than dressing for just about any other occasion.

Lilac hooded sweater - GAP. White canvas pumps - Vans. And a giant teacup, yep.
Loose fit 'love' tee - F21. Glasses & scarf - Korean stores.

Did you read my last post? Told you I'm mentally about 5 years old!
Hola chicas! How was your weekend? (And urrrmm...half your week??)

I had another lovely weekend; the sun was shining, we took a short trip to a small island off the west coast of Korea, we ate waaaay too much food, we got pretty tipsy, we lazed on the couch and we caught up via Skype with friends and family. All in all another great weekend.

It's Wednesday now though, I can't believe it! That means it was four days since I last blogged. Four days that somehow feel like four weeks! The worst part is you'd think I'd have something super whizzer awesome to show you by now buuuuut...well...yeah, I don't!

So what've I been doing all this time??

Well, I've tried to make a start on planning our wedding! Eeeek! First task - pick a venue and a date.

We already decided we'll get married in Thailand since we love it there, its quite easy to reach from here, the weathers perfect at the time of year we want to get married and we know some great places there too. In fact we almost immediately settled on Koh Samui, a small island off the east coast, as the destination.

"You've just got to pick a hotel now, should be easy enough, I'll just see where I like the look of and take it from there" I naively thought to myself.

A few zillion emails later, with about six different spreadsheets detailing costs versus time versus locations and having scoured every corner of Tripadvisor I am none the wiser. How do people choose these things? Where I go from here I honestly do not know!!

I guess that's how I reached Wednesday without even realising it! If you don't hear from me until next week you know what I'm doing!

PS: Have you planned or been to a destination wedding before? Where was it? If you have any links to blogs about destination weddings/wedding planning I'd love to see!

Sharing Not Stealing In Silver Metallics

15 November 2011

Terrible Tuesday's are really trying to live up to their name. I woke up this morning before my alarm went off, which is unheard of for me. I figured it must have been because I went to bed a tad earlier than usual. I thought about rolling over and waiting for my alarm to go. After a few minutes I decided I could always use a bit of extra time so I didn't have to rush around like a headless chicken getting ready. I picked up my phone to check what time it actually was and see how close it was to the first of my three alarms (I'm very paranoid about sleeping through my alarm) going off. My phone wouldn't switch on though. I'd put it on to charge when I got into bed but instead of charging it had just gone flat dead. Ahhhh sh*t. I checked the time on a clock in my living room, it was 9.09! Nine minutes after I was due at work. Bugger. So began my morning.

You know how it is when your day gets off to a bad start, it tends to determine the mood of the day. It didn't help that there was no time for breakfast or even a coffee before work. I'm one of those irritable when hungry types. I looked like crap too as you can imagine.

I prefer to leave negatives behind though so let's focus on yesterday instead, which was a far better day; when I maintained a nice constant blood sugar level and looked reasonably presentable.

My boyfriend and I are lucky that our apartment is situated right in the heart of one of the best areas of Seoul, Gangnam. There's a lot of great places within walking distance of our apartment including some cute cafe's we like to walk to and get dinner at. After work we took a stroll to one of them and snapped some pics next to a cool building we pass.

Silver Metallic Jeans - H&M. Jersey Blazer - ASOS. Knit Scarf - Accessorize.
Dream Catcher Silver & Black Necklace - H&M. Boots - Dorothy Perkins.

Metallic Silver T-Shirt - Mango.  Lipstick - MAC 'Saint Germain'.
Unenthusiastic model, can you tell?! <3

He was hungry (it's a much more serious problem when his blood sugar levels get low) so he wasn't too impressed about the impromptu photo shoot en-route. I think my photo captures his impatience well, don't you agree? Are all men the same when they're hungry; kind of like it's impossible for them to function correctly until they've eaten something?

He got his dinner in the end though. Don't worry he ate more than that salad, that was for me, it's just that all food in Korea tends to get put in the middle of the table to share. I quite like it that way. It means you can order your feel-good-about-yourself-healthy meal and then eat the yummy-not-so-good-feel-kind-of-guilty food your boyfriend ordered and it's not stealing, it's sharing! Oh...and the calories still belong to him that way too!

(No boyfriend's were harmed or truly, genuinely angered in the making of this post.)

I Wore: Oversized Sweater Dress

16 October 2011

After the awesome comfort and very fall-esque look of the cardiwrap that I fell in love with I couldn't resist this oversized sweater dress when I saw it in the shops yesterday.

Be cool. Yep, totally got that look down!
I picked it up at H&M along with several other things that you'll be seeing in the coming days/weeks. They also do this in black. I love the chunky rolled back edge on the sleeves and neck. I wore it out to dinner with the boyfriend last night. We went for Spanish tapas at this lovely new restaurant near us, it was delicious, definitely a new fav. I wore the sweater with...(because I really am addicted)...

...drum roll please...

..some black leggings!! Haha!

If you don't know about my addiction then you should read my post, Confessions of a Leggingaholic.
On my feet I opted for some black suede slouchy boots because yet again I was feeling the comfort factor. Must be getting old. Ah crap! *cries* Really don't want to think about that!

H&M Oversized Sweater
Sorry that shot came out a little blurry. Only remembered to take one on the way home and I suppose the wine had got the better of my photographer's (bf) steady hand. I took my Bally bag because all my smaller handbags and clutches looked a little puny next to the mass of sweater. The same went for jewellry, I tried on a tonne of necklaces but in the end took the pendant off a necklace and put it onto this longer chunkier chain. When the sweater is so oversized it just doesn't look right to do delicate accessories in my opinion. If you're going to do something, you've got to do it all the way, don't you think?

I'm just relishing the cooler weather and chance to wear these thicker items with all the material. Three weeks ago I would have cooked. My boyfriend must think I look so darn sexy in all these huge-ass cardigans and sweaters with leggings. Hahaha!  I swear I'm going to wear something a bit more figure hugging soon and I might even ditch the leggings for a day, you never know!

In the meantime though let me know what you think? Do you like chunky knits and oversized sweater dresses?

I hope you've had a great weekend!

Stress relief.

3 September 2011

Another week has passed. I didn't mean to post so little this week but it seems that time got away from me. Earlier in the week I wrote about my 'Terrible Tuesday'. Because of that and because he's also lovely my boyfriend thought it would be nice to take me for a picnic by the river here in Seoul. He figured some vitamin D and fresh air (we live in a city of over 10 million people) might help cheer me up. I'm pleased to say he was right and the week has picked up a lot since then!

Casual and comfortable. Cream vest-H&M. Floral cream trimmed top-Forever 21. Denim skirt-Diesel.
Handbag-Zara.

Heart clasp bracelet-Boutique in Seoul. Tasseled crystal bracelet-Accessorize. Watch-Rolex. Assorted Bracelets-H&M

The lovely man with the plan!
The grateful and now happier lady.

We ate our picnic laid on the grass watching the people go by. We stayed until the sun disappeared behind the city horizon. Sometimes I feel like I never switch off except for when I sleep. Internet, blogging, TV, phone, working, you know how it is. It was nice just to be still and quiet for a while.

Afterwards Steve drove us to Starbucks for a coffee hit. On the way we stopped and picked up one of my all-time favourite naughty treats, a cupcake!  I guess Steve deemed it acceptable to be the enabler given my stressful week. They might not be healthy diet friendly food but boy they sure do make me happy!!

Non-fat latte with full fat cupcake. Haha!

'Funky Berry' cupcake.

Sadly for me the deal was I had to share the cupcake with Steve to save myself from the full calorie whack! At least now my sweet cravings have been satiated for a while. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

So all in all it was a beautiful afternoon, a pleasant interlude during the weekly rat race.

It really helped me relax and step back from everything for long enough to realize that I have no real reason for getting stressed, it does no good. In fact I highly recommend you switch off you're computer now and go do something to help yourself relax and tune out. If you're feeling really stressed treat yourself to a little (yes, little..not a lot) of whatever makes you smile. It will work wonders.

Actually, I think on that note I'm going to switch off now. Don't worry I'll be back to share more soon. I'm going out tonight for my friends birthday. So excited to get dressed up. Pictures will follow soon I'm sure!

Have a lovely relaxing weekend and make sure you go make the most of it!
