Making Me Smile

22 April 2013

Just Because Flowers  <3
Pretty lace capped sleeves. Mango.
Delicious sweet treats that remind me of home.  All thanks to the very kind, fellow blogger, Laura
Two new favourite Chanel nail colours (Distraction & May)
Cherry blossoms outside my door.

As always, the weekend was too short, but with each week that passes the weather is warming up, so for a change it doesn't feel like such a bad thing. I'm happy to be heading towards brighter, longer, sunny days. The cherry blossoms arrive where I live, a little later than in the rest of Korea. They sprang out over the weekend, a definite (very pretty) sign that spring is really here now. I can't help but feel cheerful  at the moment, especially with all the lovely things this last week has included.

Is it Spring where you are? What's making you smile at the moment?

Did you read my last post? Told you I'm mentally about 5 years old!
Hola chicas! How was your weekend? (And urrrmm...half your week??)

I had another lovely weekend; the sun was shining, we took a short trip to a small island off the west coast of Korea, we ate waaaay too much food, we got pretty tipsy, we lazed on the couch and we caught up via Skype with friends and family. All in all another great weekend.

It's Wednesday now though, I can't believe it! That means it was four days since I last blogged. Four days that somehow feel like four weeks! The worst part is you'd think I'd have something super whizzer awesome to show you by now buuuuut...well...yeah, I don't!

So what've I been doing all this time??

Well, I've tried to make a start on planning our wedding! Eeeek! First task - pick a venue and a date.

We already decided we'll get married in Thailand since we love it there, its quite easy to reach from here, the weathers perfect at the time of year we want to get married and we know some great places there too. In fact we almost immediately settled on Koh Samui, a small island off the east coast, as the destination.

"You've just got to pick a hotel now, should be easy enough, I'll just see where I like the look of and take it from there" I naively thought to myself.

A few zillion emails later, with about six different spreadsheets detailing costs versus time versus locations and having scoured every corner of Tripadvisor I am none the wiser. How do people choose these things? Where I go from here I honestly do not know!!

I guess that's how I reached Wednesday without even realising it! If you don't hear from me until next week you know what I'm doing!

PS: Have you planned or been to a destination wedding before? Where was it? If you have any links to blogs about destination weddings/wedding planning I'd love to see!

Practical Purchasing For A Change

19 March 2012

White Handbag - Benetton. Heart Necklace - Swarovski. Long necklace and ring - Accessorize. Cardigan - The one and only Primarni (aka Primark).  Scarf - Ella Georgia.

It seems I'm developing a habit of posting about my rather casual Sundays lately. Forgive me please, I  am going to wear something other than leggings soon I swear!! Although the outfit isn't anything fancy, just simple and comfortable, this Sunday could not go unmentioned. You see....

..this Sunday something terrible happened! My dear laptop met his maker! Yes, I'm sad to say, after several long years of friendship, he's gone. I was heartbroken, angry and sad...how could he just go and leave me like that?!

That lasted about a minute because then I realised the time had finally come to get a Mac!

I've been dreaming of a beautiful, sleek and most importantly efficient Mac for a long time. Plenty of evenings have been spent cursing at my old laptop when it decided to freeze up right in the middle of a blog post. Do you know the feeling? Despite that, I couldn't justify the outlay of cash though when teeeechnically my laptop was still useable even if it was very temperamental. Now though, like it or not, I had to get a new laptop...

So off I went to the Apple store to pick up the most practical purchase I've made in a long time!

That's me doing a little 'yes' to myself after making my selection in the shop. Doesn't my fiancĂ© capture the best moments?!
Securing the goods.
We can thank my fiancé for this gorgeous early morning shot too!
I'm pretty excited and I'm hoping this signifies the end of my recent computer frustrations. Now I've just got to work out how to use the thing, one small problem....the manual is all in Korean!

Anyone a Mac user? Please let me know if you have any essential tips or pointers! :)

What do you think is the most practical purchase you have made?

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

A Sunny Sunday At Mine // First World, Songdo

12 March 2012

Yesterday morning was one of those blissfully peaceful mornings. We ate poached eggs for breakfast with fresh white toast and sat on the couch sipping hot coffee whilst the sun streamed in our apartment windows. I wish every morning was Sunday morning!

I remembered that I promised I would give you a sneak peek of  our new place soon, so I took a few pics to share with you now.

We're still getting settled into the place. But we're already in love with the views over the park below, something that we really love about Songdo is the abundance of outdoor space.

My fiance and I both have quite similar taste when it comes to furnishing our apartmentHe mainly leaves it up to me though. His only request was that this one was more 'manly' than our last apartment. I guess I'd inadvertently made the last one quite feminine, ooops!

We already had the couch and TV table so I'm planning to base the colour scheme around those things. I prefer a neutral look of creams, black and brown. I've already added some touches of silver I had from our previous apartment (and the flowers) to give it just that hint of girlyness that I love. I'm still looking for a big floor lamp for this room and something to fill the walls but apart from that it's just small trinkets and soft furnishings that it needs. They're something that can easily be accumulated with time though.

At about 3pm we started to feel guilty for not doing anything! So, just to keep our consciences clear, we got ready and headed out for a walk in the park. We'd been deceived by the blue skies though, it was minus five degrees centigrade! We weren't dressed for that so the walk got put on hold and we headed for coffee instead. Not very exciting but still a perfect relaxing Sunday for me.

What's your perfect Sunday like?

A Seoulful Saturday

13 November 2011

This weekend has passed all too quickly for my liking. Don't you hate it when that happens?! Despite not doing that much I feel like I haven't stopped. I needed a lot more couch time. Instead I went out early doors yesterday to meet friends for dinner. We went to a great little area called Garasou Gil, it's jam packed with cute boutiques, cosmetic stores, restaurants, bars and cafes. Best of all though, I got to wear almost all my recent new purchases.

The wedges made me feel like I was ten feet tall especially around all the much smaller Korean people but I still love them. So chuffed I managed to find them and in F21 of all places! I wore them with a grey skater skirt and my leather jacket. It won't be long until it's way too cold here to get away with only a leather jacket so I plan on making the most of it whilst I still can.

We had a wander around the shops and then decided to take a gamble on a new restaurant for dinner. It was a really casual restaurant but the food turned out to be really good so I'll definitely be heading back.

Mix metal charm bracelet - Pandora. Black studded bracelet & Love bracelet - F21

Drinking snacks including chocolate covered sunflower seeds, unusual but appreciated

Grey skater skirt - Uniqlo. Bag - H&M. Leather Jacket - Oli. Scarf - F21.

Today I was up and out early (well, for me on a Sunday morning it was) to meet some other friends for coffee. I met up later with my lovely boyfriend for our Sunday Supper. Didn't have my camera with me though...obviously not a real blogger yet am I! Sorry :(

So, how was your weekend? What did you do? I hope you all had fun doing something you love with good friends too!

Here's To The Wonderful Weekends.

1 November 2011

I love the crisp autumn weather we have here in Seoul right now. The sun is low in the sky turning everything golden. I love walking and feeling the warm rays on my face when I'm bundled up. It's especially nice here now as the leaves have just begun falling and showing their beautiful oranges, reds and yellows.

Scarf - Liberty London. Blouse - Love Stitch. Sunglasses - Vintage Ray-Ban.

Boots - Kurt Geiger. Bag - D&G. Nails - OPI 'Shootout at the OK Coral'
I had a very relaxed weekend. Yes, I'm a bit late in telling you about it but better late than never right?! I baked, I shopped a little, I spoke with friends and family back home and of course I spent some quality time with my lovely boyfriend. We took these photos when we went out for a short walk late on Sunday afternoon. After we went for early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants nearby our apartment.

Good company <3

Sunday dinner. Yum.
In England on Sundays most people have a tradition to have a big roast dinner with their whole family. Well, we don't have that pleasure here so we tend to indulge in a nice meal out. We chose a course menu because we'd skipped lunch and were really hungry. There was actually 3 more dishes not pictured above! I always love course menus though because of the variety you get to have. This restaurant also has a bar that serves incredibly good cocktails. I couldn't resist having just one despite the fact it was a school work night!

Apple Mojito.
All in all I had a very relaxed weekend.  I baked, I spoke with friends and family back home and I spent some quality time with my lovely boyfriend. Couldn't ask for much more!

{Oh and I blogged of course, including posting my first mini giveaway for a MAC lipstick. Enter here.}

Here's to next weekend! xxx
