Despite being crazily busy this last couple of weeks with moving house (yes, again!!) and taking a last minute trip to Singapore for the Mr's work, I still found some time to take part in my favourite Valentine's tradition. Of course I did. A bit of love inspired nail art!

This was inspired by some simple red heart shape tips I'd spied on Pinterest a while back. I just made some of my own enhancements/adjustments: I used two colors, OPI Mod About You and Color So Hot it Berns, to layer some of the hearts; for a more playful look I painted my hearts on slight tilts and kept my rounder, less pointy nail shape, the originals (see Pinterest link) are a bit regimented and too claw-like for my taste; and lastly I added a bit of China Glaze Ruby Pumps, because it wouldn't be right not to have a touch of glitter on Valentine's Day!

Special mention has to be given to the base coat, it's my latest polish addition, Chanel Frisson. It was picked up on a stop-and-grab duty-free haul on our last trip to SG. It's the epitome of a feminine sheer pink, with a subtle irridescent micro-shimmer to it. So pretty! For this manicure I just used two coats but you can layer up three or four to get an opaque finish. No doubt I'll show you a snap of this polish worn that way in the future because it's a definite easy to wear, everyday kinda polish.

Anyway, Valentine's day is winding to a close now around the other side of the world (it's actually Saturday here now) but I hope you all had a wonderful day spent with whoever you love, be it your partner, your friends or your pet :) And, have a great weekend!

Did you read my last post? Told you I'm mentally about 5 years old!
Hola chicas! How was your weekend? (And urrrmm...half your week??)

I had another lovely weekend; the sun was shining, we took a short trip to a small island off the west coast of Korea, we ate waaaay too much food, we got pretty tipsy, we lazed on the couch and we caught up via Skype with friends and family. All in all another great weekend.

It's Wednesday now though, I can't believe it! That means it was four days since I last blogged. Four days that somehow feel like four weeks! The worst part is you'd think I'd have something super whizzer awesome to show you by now buuuuut...well...yeah, I don't!

So what've I been doing all this time??

Well, I've tried to make a start on planning our wedding! Eeeek! First task - pick a venue and a date.

We already decided we'll get married in Thailand since we love it there, its quite easy to reach from here, the weathers perfect at the time of year we want to get married and we know some great places there too. In fact we almost immediately settled on Koh Samui, a small island off the east coast, as the destination.

"You've just got to pick a hotel now, should be easy enough, I'll just see where I like the look of and take it from there" I naively thought to myself.

A few zillion emails later, with about six different spreadsheets detailing costs versus time versus locations and having scoured every corner of Tripadvisor I am none the wiser. How do people choose these things? Where I go from here I honestly do not know!!

I guess that's how I reached Wednesday without even realising it! If you don't hear from me until next week you know what I'm doing!

PS: Have you planned or been to a destination wedding before? Where was it? If you have any links to blogs about destination weddings/wedding planning I'd love to see!

Nice Surprises Come When You Least Expect.

11 November 2011

Surprises are always fun. Today was a good day because it was Friday and let's face it, it's hard for Friday not to be a good day!

I had an extra special Friday today though because my work gave me a gift for no reason apart from to show their appreciation for my hard work. I was right in the middle of a very typical Friday, tired, counting down the hours until freedom and then they presented me my surprise gift. It's the last place I ever really expect to be surprised so I was pretty taken aback. It was so nice of them, don't you think?!

What was even nicer is they'd actually taken the time to get a gift I'd love. Chanel lip gloss. Yes, happy recipient :)

When you see Chanel packaging you know you're on to a winner. Anything in there's bound to be good!
Chanel Intense Radiance Lip gloss {Glossimer} - '152 Blossom'
Such  a pretty shade - Chanel lip gloss '152 Blossom'.

It's a lovely medium pink shade with lots of sparkle to it. The micro-glitters twinkle blue, silver, rose and pink. It goes on quite sheer but is very glossy and enhances the pink in my lips nicely. The sparkles are clearly visible but in the right way, they don't look over the top and the texture is completely smooth. It's actually very similar to my favorite Dior lip gloss, Ultra Gloss in Empire Pink 557. I'm really happy with it.

The silver, blue, rose and pink micro-glitters up close and personal.
I haven't yet worked out how to photograph a close up of my lips without it looking odd. Does anyone else have that problem or is it just me and my odd mouth?! Hmmm...

So, instead here is a swatch on the back of my hand. It's taken indoors without flash on the left and with flash on the right.

Swatch 'Chanel 152 Blossom' - Left: no flash. Right: with flash.
All in all it was a lovely gift, totally perfect for me and I was really touched by their gesture. It's such a lovely feeling to be appreciated and I won't lie, it's even nicer when someone gives you a gift to show it!

~Have any of your employers ever bought you a gift and if so what was it?
~What kind of thing would you most like to receive as a token gift from your bosses?

Talking about showing appreciation, I'd like to say thank you so much to everyone who has commented and those who have followed me and shown support! It means a lot to me. My first giveaway is finishing this Sunday so make sure you've entered here!

I actually planned on doing another small giveaway when I reached 100 followers but I had no idea that would come so quickly, before the first giveaway was even done. As it is, I'm planning a giveaway when I reach 200 followers. Hoping it will happen shortly thanks to all of you lovely readers :) Have a great weekend!!

Lust Haves: Luxe Glam Rock Look

29 September 2011

Hi Folks!

Hows your week going? We're approaching the end and I don't know about you but my week feels like it's flown past. Why is it that some weeks are agonisingly slow and others pass in the blink of an eye?

So what have I been up to apart from the mundane? Well yesterday evening I indulged in a little internet shopping and a lot of internet window shopping. Below is the stuff I bought and the stuff I'm lusting after.
Sadly I only bought three of the eleven items. (Gosh that ratio sucks!) I'd love to say it was the Burberry leather jacket coming in at just over one and a half thousand dollars or the Alexander McQueen Scarf but sadly I'm not rolling in it. So the quite-a-bit-cheaper leather jacket I already own will have to do. I also already own a ridiculously large scarf collection so really I don't need any more. Umm...yeah....I don't...I'm sure I have loads just as pretty as this. Yeah. Right! *sob sob*
