NEW IN // H&M Cutwork & Emroidered Top

26 June 2013

If you follow me on Instagram then you'll have spotted this top I picked up last week. (And if you don't follow me, why ever not?! Go do so here!). I was innocently browsing H&M and despite already owning more white tops than any person can ever possibly need and recently vowing I was going to buy more color, I saw this top and decided it couldn't be passed up. It's got scalloped edges, a beautiful floral embroidery design and little cut out detailing. So pretty and all for such an affordable H&M price tag, that really, how could I just leave it there?!

As bad as this may sound, it's one of the rare times when I've bought something knowing I will wear it again and again. You see, I'm usually more of an impulse buyer of statement items and 'trend' pieces. It's not a good way to be as it results in a full closet and the feeling that you have nothing to wear since statement pieces aren't the easiest to mix and match and trends have a horrid habit of looking old, fast.

Anyway, I'm pleased to report that the 'cost per wear' on this is already heading towards single figures. And, since it's so light and loose, as the temperatures go up that figure is only going to go down.

Not sure what the awkward pose is all about but it's the only clear full shot I have of the top >.<

An Interlude // J.Crew Bouquet Ring

13 March 2013

I thought I'd give you a break from all the Dubai posts and the zillion photos today. Two reasons why...

First, I have the post-holiday blues and I fear that all this blogging about my former self being more tanned, enjoying beautiful bars, shopping and generally have a gay old time, is only serving to prolong the agony of realising that, yep, my real life just isn't as good. I need a break to get over it.

Two, I got something pretty and now it's in the sale. Annoying? Frustrating? Yes! First time this has happened? Unfortunately not. But...I thought I'd find the silver lining and share it with you so that maybe someone else can benefit from it being half price, before it's sold out altogether.

Isn't it pretty! It's the perfect springtime accessory and I can't wait to wear it with some pastel-y goodness when the warmer weather arrives here :)

I got it a while back from J.Crew - HERE . They're doing an extra 30% off all sale items if you enter the code GOODNEWS at the moment, so it's only thirty-five bucks now!

Of course, this also means there are some other very tempting bargains. I have my eye on this and wouldn't mind a pair of these...only problem is, I want the entire rainbow of colours, which cannot happen, even if they are super cheap now...! Help! Which are your faves?

New In // H&M Jewels and Basics

13 February 2013

Statement necklaces are special, they have the ability to lift just about any outfit from drab and dull to delightful all by themselves. Quite an achievement if you ask me. I was browsing H&M the other day and spotted this one twinkling on a stand. It stood out from the sea of other jewels and for the price, naturally, I deemed it a 'must-buy'.

I actually spotted a lot of other things I loved in there, too. Sometimes I find a store will have a season that seems to perfectly suit my taste and I end up wearing whole outfits consisting of their stuff. Zara last summer was a prime example of this. This season H&M is killing it for me. Only problem, I'm trying to make a conscious effort to buy less 'fast fashion' items...

So I only walked away with a couple of things, one of which was this simple white sweater from their 'conscious collection'. I liked the slightly sheer sleeves and trim, it's a perfect basic for my summer wardrobe that can be worked into a lot of outfits. Watch this space for a lot of it and probably a tonne of other H&M stuff too, as soon as my wavering willpower waves goodbye.

New In (ish) // Marc Jacobs Rock Watch

28 January 2013

You might get a little idea of how disorganised and hectic January has been for me by the fact I'm only just showing you my Marc Jacobs 'Rock' watch which I received for Christmas. Yes, it's taken me a whole month to take some photos to show you my new wrist candy. But trust me, it's not for lack of love, I adore this watch. I'd spotted it some time ago and put it on my Christmas wish list. There's a few different colour options including a beautiful rose gold that I considered, but in the end I decided the gold with silver and white accents was best suited to me.

It's a wonderfully weighty, chunky gold watch. I don't know about you, but I love my watches to feel heavy and solid. And of course, like almost every accessory for me, oversized is always a winner!

This watch has been on my wrist almost everyday since I received it including yesterday, a sloppy Sunday running errands. I like to think that by pairing it with a couple of my favourite bracelets it somehow stops me from looking like a total scruff even when the rest of my outfit comprises of the first thing I pulled out of my wardrobe.

Current Nails  //  OPI 'The World Is Not Enough' (a dark grey) turned lilacy pink

Watch  //  Nail polishes  //  Bracelet  //  Domino
So, forgetting I'm a month late with this, what do you think of my Christmas present? Santa did good, didn't he?!

I'm making it my mission to post more frequently in February, I might have to get myself accustomed with a little scheduled posting.

Hope all you lovelies had a great weekend. Happy Monday (if that's possible?) everyone.

Superficial About Perfume // Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

22 September 2012

I'd be lying if I told you that I didn't commit myself to buying this perfume, Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs, the second I saw the bottle. Just look how pretty it is! It's the perfect addition to my dressing table.

I have no idea how, but I hadn't seen this perfume before, I'd only seen the regular Daisy. As soon as I laid my eyes on the antique pink perfume with the white, yellow and pink flowers I made up my mind that unless it smelt reeeeally truly awful, I was getting it!

It was a pleasant surprise and definite added bonus then that the scent is actually really lovely too!

It's a light, very inoffensive subtle fruit and floral scent (perfect for summer really....but I missed that). I could tell you all about the notes of the perfume but for me it's really just about the looks. If you have more integrity than me when it comes to choosing perfumes you can read about the fragrance on the Marc Jacobs Daisy website, which also happens to be exceptionally pretty! If you're like me (judge a perfume by it's bottle) then do what I did and just skip straight on ahead to buying it - Here!

It did get me thinking though...I can't be the only one who's a bit superficial about their perfume purchases...  Come on, who else buys their perfumes based on the bottles? I know I'm not the only one!
